Cable Car In The Back Of A Bar - Brooklyn NY

I was off to NYC last week to visit Tera. Kate was very helpful in the packing process - she was not so happy when she had to drop me off at the airport! But 10 seconds later she was ready for a great weekend with Dad (who took her to dance class =), going to the zoo with Papa, and getting to hang out with Nana and Tia.

I took a red eye Thursday night and it took me only 2 hours (2 trams, 1 train, and 15 NYC blocks of walking) to get Tera's apartment. After a nap we headed out for our firsty of 2 100+ block walking day. We walked for hours but it is so fun in NYC. We headed to the upper east side for coffe and lunch and then walked along "Museam Mile" until we were almost to the top of Central Park. Here we ate lunch and walked thought these beautiful gardens. After the gardens we walked around the reservior.

Tera at the reservior and with her favorite NYC building in the background. After the 2 mile treck we headed further south in the park until we hit the MET. This is one of my favorite museams - the building I think is a part of the greatness. There is a unmarked elevator to the top and this great view of the park and city - a great place to enjoy on a sunny afternoon.

After the MET, we walked to the south end of Central Park, toured through the Plaza Hotel, drooled over Tiffanys, Harry Winston, and many many other nice shops I would dare not go in, until we hit Grand Central Station. What a beautiful site. We also had a drink in the Campell Apartment (a very old but hip at the same time bar, hidden away in Grand Central). Then it was off the get ready for dinner - Pearl Oyster Bar In Greenwich Village (Lobster rolls that are a must!). After dinner we went to a speakeasy bar. These were started in prohibition and still exist today - although unmarked to ward off too many non New Yorkers.

Heading home after a great night.

Saturday we had brunch in Greenwich Village and then walked throught the Meat Packing District (a new park there above made on an old rail line). The highlight was seeing Suzie Orman!!!!! Then we walked through the West Village and shopped all the way back to Teras (like 10th to 34th!)

Saturday Night Tera and I went to Pipa's (amazing Tapas) and then headed to Brooklyn for a friends Birthday Party. Here are some pictures of from the Party (its hard to keep up with the fashion!)

Sunday we headed home. I will miss not having a sister in NYC as it is such a fun place to visit but so very very happy she is back in Seattle!
